Making the Most of Information and Referral

If you are providing support and information to people in need, this workshop is for you!

Knowing how to give appropriate community referrals is a crucial component to working with those in need. It reduces the confusion, frustration and unnecessary delay people often face in seeking or reaching services. When community, social, and health organizations receive appropriate referrals, this reduces time spent redirecting calls.

Information and Referral involves:

  • Assessment and communication skills
  • Knowing your community resources
  • Understanding the process of how to give the information and referrals
  • Knowing how and when to say no
  • Follow-up
  • Advocacy

Upon completion of the workshop, you will:

  • Have a better understanding of the Information and Referral process
  • Know how to give appropriate community referrals
  • Know where to find the Information you need
  • Be familiar with the most common community referrals in Edmonton
